Players of the year selected in basketball

Durham Mount Zion's Roy Bright and East Forsyth's Chante Black were named Gatorade N.C. high school basketball players of the year.

The award is based on performance, academics and character.

Bright, who signed with Cincinnati, averaged 17 points and nine rebounds. He maintains a B average, and participated in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
