And still there are 5! With 2 games left, two teams control their own
destiny, but its possible for a five way tie.
If everyone "takes care of business," which means beating weak teams and winning at home, then there *will* be a 5-way tie [does that automatically make it the Skyline Chili C-USA Tournament? :-) ]. In that case, DePaul would be the #1 seed in the conference tourney (3-2 record against the other 4), Charlotte would be the #5 seed (2-3 record), and the other 3 (each with .500 records) would have to wait to see how the rest of the standings end up in order to break their tie. This means that:
- DePaul has plenty of incentive for Thursday's game against UC
- Charlotte would not get a tourney bye, even though they are a co-champion
- There's a fair chance UC would end up being the #4 seed
- UC plays in both of the key games of the week (which sounds just fine to me)
I trust the UC staff is aware of this and will let the players know.

In the driver's seat
UC (@ DePaul, Memphis) and Memphis (TCU, @ UC)
Win Thursday makes four teams happy.
DePaul (UC, @ So. Fla)
Win and wait
Charlotte (@ Houston, Tulane); & UAB (@ So. Fla, TCU)

The Conference Race -
It looks like the champion will not have more than 4 losses;
so there are
only 5 teams left. I can't imagine Memphis going to both UL
and UC without
atleast one loss. UAB does not have to play any of the other
contenders.
At this point, UC controls its own destiny - win out and the
worst they can
do is split with UAB.
It looks UAB has the easiest road from here (@ Tulane,
Marquette, @ So. Fla,
TCU);
then Charlotte (@ TCU, UC, @ Houston, Tulane);
then UC (St. Louis, @ Charlotte, @ DePaul, Memphis);
then Memphis (So. Miss, @ UL, TCU, @ UC);
then DePaul (@ Louisville, So. Miss, UC, @ So. Fla)
Go Cats!
