Up here in Big-10 country we got the MSU-Syracuse game, which 'Cuse won
96-83. Neither team played all that well, but I would say both have as
much talent as UC. Michigan State doesn't have anyone who can play the
point, though. And it's ironic :-) how much we agonized about not getting
Kelvin Torbert, considering how he's turned out. Syracuse has a bunch of
guys who can make plays, but their effort on defense is spotty. There was
a stretch of five straight plays in the second half where a Syracuse
player totally lost someone on defense and gave up an easy hoop. Any one
of these plays would have had Huggs calling a timeout just to bury the guy
on the deep bench, but Boeheim let it go.

Wonder if we'll get more of these sort of marquee non-conference games
once we're in the Big East? I sure hope so.

Have you been watching the games today? I am shocked at how bad it
looks like many of the "top" teams are. I watched some of the UK/UNC
game and both teams do not look that good. They are not deep and they
are LAZY. I have not seen a team play what Cats Fans know as defense.

I watched the Xavier/Alabama game and Alabama stinks. The announcers
talked about Sato the whole game. "Their All America" candidate..."
He is 5 of 14 but he is hot of late. He can speak six languages, he
can speak six languages. Myles is some player... To be quite frank,
I do not think that Sato starts on UC, so how is he an All American?
Maybe he is third team behind UC's best 10 ;-)

The new year is looking good...
