When UC goes into the Big East, they'll get to play one of the best zone defenses in the country at least once a year. Syracuse almost exclusively uses a 2 - 3 zone defense which gave teams fits last season in the NCAA tournament.

<snip> " I hope so, too, but I think it takes more than that. There are
specific techniques for attacking a zone (overload low, overload high, skip
passes, ...) that I don't recall seeing UC use much."

I don't recall UC EVER doing any of this in Huggins tenure.

<snip> " They tend to pass it around the perimeter and occasionally try a
normal post-up and inside-out pass. "

That to me sounds like the typical UC attack of the zone. If Huggins has
one weak point, it's coaching our offense against zone defenses. This has
been our downfall as long as I can remember. 98/99 - Lost 4 games that year
including the tourney all to zone defenses. 99/00 - Kenyons senior year,
lost to Temples (at home) and Xaviers zone defense.

UC will simply need shooters (Bobbitt/Williams) or slashers (White/Kirk) to
beat the zone cause I don't think we'll coach our way past the zone.
