We found out last year how much we need another scoring presence inside for
another scoring option and to free up Max to do his thing. Whaley will be
missed because other teams still had to prepare to guard him. They will now
focus soley on Max in the post. Whaleys development was coming. He is
adjusting to another level of ball and to a coach who expects the best on
both ends of the floor and on the boards. It would not have surprised me if
it took into '04 to see the player in Whaley we read about. This setback
slows his development down. He will be really missed vs. Clemson as Oliver
Purnell will give the 'Cats fits with a sound gameplan, size and
athleticism. Valpo will be tough tonight. Kareem has improved from last
year and will hopefully get the job done on the boards. Hope we are done
with our injuries for this searson.

Considering his lack of production so far this season, I don't think this
will be a big loss tonight. Perhaps his injury is why Whaley has struggled
so far this season. Kareem needs to step up tonight and have a big game on
the boards.
Wow, it's quiet in here, especially given that 1) it's game day and 2)
Whaley is out 2-4 weeks. I guess this is the best time for said surgery
as we have the upcoming break, but I hope this doesn't set him back
further.
