Duke reserve center Michael Thompson has decided to transfer.
Thompson indicated that he will transfer to another school following the
fall semester, but has not decided on where his next stop will be next
season.
"Michael has decided to pursue opportunities at another school," said Duke
head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "He is leaving Duke in good academic standing
and we wish him well in the future."
A source told ESPN's Dick Vitale that Thompson was concerned with a lack
of playing time. A 6-foot-10, 245-pound sophomore from Joliet, Ill.,
Thompson saw action in three of four games, averaging 2.3 points and 0.3
rebounds in 11 total minutes.
Thompson had a season-high seven points in a 76-47 win over Liberty in the
Great Alaska Shootout semifinals. Duke lost to Purdue 78-68 in the title
game on Sunday.
A former McDonald's All-American, Thompson averaged 1.5 points and 0.5
rebounds in 16 games last season.
