If you track flights to NYC on a daily/weekly basis you can book flights
(not on Delta) for $80-120. Denise and I have been to NYC twice in the last
few years and paid $82, and $90-something for our round-trip tickets on US
Air. I use Yahoo to track about a dozen cities on a regular basis and check
them a couple times a week. There is a Days Inn (or is it a comfort inn -
or both?) in mid-town that is reasonable, and many smaller restaurants where
you can eat well for under $10 or eat at some deli's. NYC can be done at
reasonable prices, especially if you have been there before and know what to
do and where to go.
I just checked and right now you can get tickets from Cincy for $123, but I
did not check departure days and times. I looked for hotels from 3/11-3/14
(which would be the BE tourney for this year) and they range from low $100's
into the $200's depending on what you want. I would not want a
Hilton/Embassy Suites type hotel for NYC as you are paying close to a 100%
premium for the name.
Finally, according to Mapquest, the drive is around 10 hours.

I don't know about driving there in 8. 10 maybe. And it's not that bad
of a drive. Now, staying in NYC for the tourney as well as eating there
will be a tad expensive unless you stay in Jersey and drive into
Manhattan for the games.

It would likely take about 16-22 hours to get to NYC by train. Does
anyone wonder why Amtrak is having financial issues?

That could be fun taking the train.... Could you imagine a train car
full of Bearcat fans... That would be fun!

Joe, if you book a few weeks ahead of time for your airfare and get
online for a hotel room, NYC can be a somewhat inexpensive trip. Right
now you can get a ticket on Delta out of Cincinnati (which is usually a
very expensive airport) for $180. If that's still too expensive, they're
starting a Cincinnati-NYC Amtrak trip very soon, if it hasn't started
already.

I am not a fan of the tournament being in the same place every year. I
would like to go to NYC every few years, but the travel time and
massive expense of NYC will mean I will eventually break my string of
consecutive conference tournaments.
I haven't thought about the improvement to the women's schedule as
well. Will UConn playing at Shoemaker finally give us a huge crowd?

I hate the ones here in town. Last time we got a hotel room and I
hope we
do that again.

Two items of interest:department
First, report has USF making promises of increasing its athletic

UC have to do either?to town.
Also, I kind of like having the C-USA basketball tournament come
Does the new BE continue having its tourney at MSG? I'm torn onthis one.
New York is a HUGE venue, but I like that Joe Local Fan can rundown to the
US Bank Arena and watch the tournament.
