It would likely take about 16-22 hours to get to NYC by train.  Does anyone
wonder why Amtrak is having financial issues?

Joe, if you book a few weeks ahead of time for your airfare and get
online for a hotel room, NYC can be a somewhat inexpensive trip. Right
now you can get a ticket on Delta out of Cincinnati (which is usually a
very expensive airport) for $180. If that's still too expensive, they're
starting a Cincinnati-NYC Amtrak trip very soon, if it hasn't started
already.
