I was having similar thoughts about why Jamar did not honor his commitment.
I recall Matt Terwilliger stating one of the reasons he chose OSU was
because of the rapport he had with the players. At the time, reading
between the lines, I thought one strenght OSU sold him on was its better
reputation than UC. I think the recent trouble gave OSU, via Terwilliger,
the opportunity to raise those issues (remember Andy Kennedy's talking
points a few years ago?).
Also, just the relationship with Terwilliger probably played a significant
part - Satterfield helped to secure DerMarr Johnson.
Finally, there are a lot of players in the UC backcourt - Chadd Moore and
Kirkland will still have 2 years when Butler arrives.
So, I'm sure OSU had a long list of other points, but I think the off court
problems (throw in the Baylor murder for added affect) and PT were two of
the biggest.
my 2 cents.

DF

It would probably be foolish of us to think that it couldn't have played
some role in his thinking. Having said that, I think he will regret not
playing at UC in the long run for his basketball development and the fact
that it was a "dream" of his.
This was a kid who was excited to come play here, so it does make you wonder
what all may have played into this. I doubt we will ever know the full
story, as they are likely to say something generic about his best interests
and desire to play with a friend (if the Ohio State thing ends up being the
case).
Later,
Chris

I doubt that was the reason....at least I hope that it wasn't. Doesanyone else have any inside info on Jamar's decision?
criminal charges against 3 Bearcats had anything to
Mark Seger <address@hidden> wrote:I wonder if the recent
do with Jamar Butler's decision. To be honest, If I had a son who washim
fortunate enough to receive a scholarship offer from UC, I might counsel
to play elsewhere given all of the trouble that UC players have beengetting
into.
They say to pick your friends wisely. That advice could come into play for
any recruit who is considering UC.
Just a thought.
