Stealing a page from Beacon-Journal columnist Terry Pluto, ONE WHO KNOWS
says coaches knew in the middle of last season that Rod wouldn't be coming
back.  He had several run ins with the coaches -- especially with Huggins --
which sealed his fate.  The decision was made to keep him with the program
(instead of kicking him out mid-year) so that he could finish his degree.
They feared that if he was kicked off permanently, he would drop out of
school and count against the graduation rate. By graduating before
transferring, he counts. Otherwise, he would not have.
