I think the writer might have pulled this quote directly from Flowers'
biography on UC's website.

Not the slightest bit sad that Rod is leaving.  I wish him the best of
luck in the future.  Things just didn't turn out for him here, and they
weren't going to get any better next season.  I still think he has some
potential, it's just like he never played with any confidence here.
