Re: David Justice on ESPN

My own personal David Justice memories (he was a 16 year old Senior
when I was an 11 year freshman at Covington Latin):

He played shortstop at a freshman/senior softball game with a
righthander's glove. He threw me out fielding in the hole, taking off
the glove, switching the ball to his left hand and wizzing it to
first. Says more about my speed than his skill, I guess.

In a later game, he almost killed me hitting a ball down the line
when I was coaching first base.

CLS didn't even have a baseball team his senior year (too few
students). He led our basketball team to as many wins as they have
ever had (unfair, since we played varsity teams with kids 2 years
older).

He dumped me in a garbage can one time.

Some DJ notes, I was an 6-foot eighth grader at St. Clement grade
school and David was a small/skinny 6th grader there. He tested-in
and skipped two years of grade school to enroll at Covington Latin
the next year. Two years later he was as big as I was. When David
was in high school he was a much better basketball player than
baseball, very athletic. He went to Thomas More on a basketball
scholly and walked-on to their baseball team. Before he won the
Rookie of the Year award in 1990 he would always come back to Cincy
to play some basketball in the winter. Very interesting guy, good
to hear he glossed the Bearcats. The only time I ever questioned
his intelligence was when he divorced Halle Berry (Cleveland
native). I always heard it was their Bengals vs. Browns patronage
that broke them up :)

Did anyone happen to watch Baseball Tonight on ESPN last night
around 10:00.
They interviewed David Justice about the Sammy Sosa bat corking
incident and
David was wearing a very cool bright red Bearcats hat. I
just thought this
was a great bit of PR for the Bearcats.
