OK, Jon, I second. I wasn't really tuned to MU
because they are starting to get geographically
out-of-whack. Then again, so is Memphis come to think
of it. The two of them would be good "schedule
partners"...

replace Charlotte with Marquette and I am sold.
Marquette is a major bball
program with financial backing and if we would try
to do something like
this, they are THE bball team to add. Their fans
travel well and I expect
them to be around for awhile.

That looks pretty good to me. Good geographics, only
ten teams. I share the b-ball philosophy that anysaid
more than ten does not make sense, unless, like I
earlier, the football championship payout isand
significant enough for the conference to profit.
I still like the Randy's idea of Army for football
Charlotte for everything else. Maybe that wouldbe
the 10th team?fine

Yes, you have identified the problem. I am
2with lopping of Houston
and
Tulane, but you are still left with bringing in
itschools that have
football
programs. I left Houston and Tulane because oftheir TV markets. I think
if C-USA wants to move closer to BCS status -
itneeds 12 fb teams so it
can
have a championship game - beyond the TV money,
(chicagowould help with exposure
and recruiting.Affiliations
Adding Rutgers and UConn could be options

How does that look for a fb conference?

You say we can lop off some of the bottom
athleticbut yet you keep Tulane
and Houston in the conference. Houston's
abledepartment is in a very
bad money situation right now, reportedly not
give upto even pay for
scholarships and Tulane is facing a vote to
andtheir Div 1 status due
to financial restraints. Charlotte, St. Louis
UAB have hardly been
bottom feeders in basketball.
