RE: Changes coming to college hoops?

I see that the Bearcat News poll is running about 2-to-1 in favor of moving the 3-point line to the international distance, and I'm confused. What difference will 9 inches make? If you ask any college player to move back a distance less than the length of his foot, will that impact his ability to make a 3 by any meaningful amount? Let's consider some pro's and con's:

PRO:
- NCAA member schools standardize on the international distance for a 3.

CON:
- US basketball now has 3 different distances for a 3 (HS and NAIA colleges, NCAA, NBA).
- Every NCAA school must add or move the line on their game floors, and will want to on their practice floors (there are 6 practice floors in Fifth Third Arena, not counting the game floor) -- of course, the expense of this will be negligible for all those athletic departments awash in cash, including those schools (such as Temple) that paint the entire area inside the arc. ;-)
- Arenas that host both HS and NCAA games (such as the Shoe; I mean, Fifth ... oh, you know) must have lines less than 9 inches apart (accounting for the width of the line) -- well, I'm sure this will not cause any confusion for players or game officials. ;-)

All this for 9 inches? To help get all NCAA players prepared for international play, which they participate in how often?

I still don't get it. If a 3 is too easy now for college players, this is not the solution.
