To quote C. Barkley on the T'Wolves-Lakers, "that was the worst officiated
game I've seen in quite some time".
A few examples:
25 seconds left in regulation, Wolves up by 5. Kobe pump fakes from 3, then
tries to draw contact with Wally S. in the air. Wally SIDESTEPS Kobe, did
not leave his feet, and never touched him as he went by. Whistle blows,
ball drops, 4 point play.
First 10 seconds of overtime: on an acting job worthy of Freddie Prinze,
Jr., Robert Horry takes a flop on what amounted to grazing his jersey. Foul
called on...Kevin Garnett, his sixth, putting Minnesota's best player on the
bench before OT could even begin.
T'Wolves up 1, 2-3 minutes left in OT. On 2 separate occasions, Laker
players drive to the basket, leave their feet and drift sideways in an
attempt to initiate contact, and get fouls on shot attempts that don't even
touch rim. One time, it was Kobe, and we've seen enough to know that he'll
get that call 9 times of 10. The other one was Janerio Pargo, and once
again replays showed that Wally S. NEVER TOUCHED HIM. Once again, Wally
went out of his way to avoid the contact, and there was a foot of gap
between the players. Unreal.
In the meantime, the Lakers were allowed to physically accost Minnesota on
both ends of the floor, especially on inbounds plays. Rick Fox is a great
example of this. He pushes Wally out of bounds in regulation (after Kobe's
4 point play) on a side-in play that gives the ball back to LA. After the
Pargo phantom call, Troy Hudson gets driven to the floor in a Laker sandwich
with no call. Finally, Wally has taken so much abuse from Rick Fox that he
swings his arm too high in an attempt to clear some space, Fox falls down as
if shot, and Wally is called for a technical (this was past halfway of the
OT).
The NBA, particularly when dealing with the Lakers, is simply the worst
professional sport going right now. It barely resembles basketball, and
generally I avoid watching it like the plague. Unfortunately, I was up late
last night and decided to watch. Anyone who saw that game and doesn't think
that officiating is biased in favor of Phil and the boys, is either blind,
stupid, or both.

If you really stayed up late, the officiating in the Lakers/T-Wolves gameThe
was even worse! I watched both games and it was absolutely unbelievable!
refs tried like crazy to GIVE the game to the Lakers. It was justice thatnot
the Nets and T-Wolves won, because they both got the 'BIG-TIME SHAFT'. I
found it very funny that the WWE advertises during the NBA playoffs....
much difference between the two sometimes.
Kenyon was an absolute man. He is turning into one of the best all-around
players in the league. Every time the Bucks ran isolation with Tim Thomas
against Kenyon, K Mart shut him down.

Did anyone else watch much of the Nets game this evening?
Kenyon had another all around great game and made the
play at the end to set up the chubby Rod Rodgers for the
game winner. If not you can catch it on SportCenter
tonight or tomorrow morning.
George Karl is an overrated coach who is a bit
full of himself... and more.
Andy L. ... I've come to the conclusion that
basketball officials start out as rookies in the
NBA, graduate to the NCAA, then on to High School,
and then the very elite make it to your local gyms.
It was not a very well officiated game even
by NBA standards.
