One problem I have with this is that a player can be good in college, but
not be pro material. Steve Alford comes to mind. Anyway, it is not
straight logic to say because West is going to be drafted #19 he is not POY.

With that said, is he POY? I did not think so, but he was the "in" choice
for some of the awards. It is "cool" to vote for someone outside of the Big
6.

And I also would take Collison over West without a thought.

Subject: [UC Basketball] NBA Draft

I had asked earlier this syear if there was any way that West
gets the Player of the Year award, which he ended up getting
a few. My issues is that the NBA obviously agrees with me
that he is no where near the best player in college.

I know the draft is based a lot on potential, but #19! Give
me a break. How could the player of the year be drafted #19?
Kenyon was the POY, he was drafted #1, he should have been
the Rookie of the year, and today he is a dominant player
in the NBA. And I hear Lance McAllister claim that West was
a better college player than Kenyon...

Blows me away... Lenny could be a better pro than West since
he really fits the 2 guard better than West fits either the
Small or Power Forward slots. Time will tell.
