Trivia question time:

Which team holds a tie for the record for the biggest margin of victory in
the Final Four, when did this occur, against whom and what was the score?

I'd rather win one more game every time. I had tickets tot he Lion King
last night and we went to dinner ahead of time. Before we crossed the
street to go into the Aronoff I walked into Uno's to catch the score. It
was during a TV timeout (turned out to be the first timeout of 2nd half) so
I waited a few minutes and then it came up: KU 73 MU 32.

I had to look at it quite a few times before reality set in. When I went in
and told my "party" a bunch of people sitting near us asked "WHAT!?". I
told them if I had not seen it, I would not have believed it.

But they are a Final Four team, and that is something to hang your hat on.

You've got to be kidding. Getting to the Final 4 vs losing in the
first round to a crappy team? You get to the Final 4 and nobody
remembers how well you did - you get stripes on your shoulder and go
down as a "Final 4 Team". How many times do we refer to the Final 4
'Cats, and you can remember about every play on the team. How many do
you remember from the teams 3 or 4 years after that?

You were right about Crean's comments, because they were factual.
They picked a bad time to have a dud of a game, but they will always
be the "Final 4 Marquette Team".

It's always better to have loved and lost....

Man, we are all tough on the Bearcats. But that was honestly the
most pathetic performance at the Final Four level (one point away
from the actual record for worst defeat) that I have ever
witnessed.

The entire team and coaching staff looked like they were
sleepwalking and not mentally prepared to meet the challenge of a
Final Four game. They got the best from Kansas, who clearly were a
better team. However, it is a joke that they couldn't at least play
well enough to keep it within 10-15 points the entire game. That
was not a case where you just ran into a one time buzzsaw
performance by a team hitting 25 three pointers or something.
Marquette looked lost on defense, and their offense was basically
whoever had the ball dribble through some traffic and throw up a
shot without much passing.

I can't imagine Huggins not jumping up and down and probably mass
subbing or something, no matter how futile the attempt. Crean just
didn't seem to try much of anything for being such a passionate guy
and motivator.

Sucks to be a Marquette fan tonight I guess, especially anyone who
tried to be part of their dream season and picked up some scalped
tickets for hundreds of dollars to go see them.

I can't imagine any Huggins team, no matter the talent level,
losing a game so soundly from start to finish against any opponent.
They always make a "mini run" to at least give us something to chew
on and talk about what could have been.

Here's a question for ya. Would you rather have the Bearcats go to
the Final Four next year and lose just like Marquette did, or lose
in one of the earlier rounds? I am sure Crean will say something to
the effect of "One performance doesn't erase the great year we
had...", but it sure seemed like the kind of loss that would leave
me thinking some things were erased.

Go Bearcats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C-USA wins it next year!

Chris
