Subject: [UC Basketball] Mute "Point" was "Point guard play is NOT the
problem"
It's kind of a mute "point" at this "Point" in the year though...
I think that's why most people are tired of the discussion.
After watching Taron hit a few 3's and handle the ball AGAIN with gloves of
steal for the most part. You are basically talking about something that
won't happen... Moore does not have the experience taron does, and when it
comes to the tournaments, that's whats needed.
You will get to see Moore start all the time next year, I think that the
best thing for the team for the rest of the year is to continue with what
they are used to. It's not the time of the year to revamp your team.
I support Taron Barker... and more importantly Bob Huggins... I think he
probably knows a little but more about these players. I imagine his
thoughts go along the lines of Mr. Breiner and Mr, McCann, as well as many
of the other established members of the forum... Except for Andy...and we
never pay attention to what he says! ;)

I'm not finished with this issue. This is a discussion list, and as such,
there is no need to sweep things under the rug while people still have
comments to make. Having said that, the points you make below are
absolutely right on. I think the team would benefit from giving Chadd about
12-20 mins per game.

consistently, but I think we can agree that Max, Hicks, Johnson and even
Well, I guess I'll end on this note. We all know this team can't shoot
Hollman can make a layup if given the chance. Now tell me this: when was
the last time you saw Barker create a layup for any of those guys? It
doesn't happen, compared to Chadd doing it quite often when he is in. I
agree that the PG problem is not the biggest problem, but its about the only
problem that is fixable. We aren't gonna get a center until next year, and
I don't see us somewhere picking up a consistent shooter, so in the
meantime, we might as well try to get the easiest shots possible => Chadd
in the postseason since he never has before!
I'm done on this issue. I don't see Huggins going to his bench very much

While agree with the premise about a penetrating PG, but this year I'm not
sure it would help all that much. We have missed a ton of open 3 pt shots.
Who cares how you get them, if you can't make it it's irrelevant. Also, if
you draw the D and dish to an inside guy who misses from 1 foot, it
do any good.open
I think it boils down to this in my opinion:
1) We have nobody inside who can finish CONSISTENTLY
2) We have nobody that has shot the ball from the perimeter CONSISTENTLY
3) We have not rebounded the ball at all on the offensive end
4) We have not "brought it" CONSISTENTLY
5) Our PG is not a threat to: drive, score, or shoot.
As you can see, I believe #5 is our least important problem... In my
opinion.

That is where you are totally and completely wrong. A penetrating point
guard draws the defense and allows the point guard to pass out for wide
shots on the perimeter or easy lay-ups (i.e. Derek Hollmans lay-up againstneither
UAB) Kick out passes (passes that go from inside to outside) create a
better outside shot set-up than passing around the perimeter.

Folks, there are two things that are really hurting the Bearcats and
of them have to do with PG.that
1. CBC has not worked. We have absolutely no presence in the center
position. Our centers have not rebounded, have not defended much and have
not scored. Imagine for just a second if Marquette's center played for UC?
2. Shooting has ranged from OK to downright awful. Example: Field
Williams had several wide open looks in the 1st half against Marquette
he did not make. And there have been countless occurrences this season of1525;Cincinnati;OH;45202;United States of America
players missing wide open looks at the basket.
Switching Moore and Barker would not solve either of the above problems.
