Also remember we stole Barker from UConn who also was in late need. No doubt he was the best available.
I hear the rumblings of a future poll at Bearcatnews.com:
"After NVE, who is the best PG of the Huggins era?"
Satterfield
Horton
LeGree
Barker
Flint
I do not think Tate or Williams or AD Jackson, etc. played enough time at the point to be included here.

I would disagree about expecting more from a 2-year PG during their
senior season. I would rate Barker as the second best behind Van Exel
under the Huggins era.
That would include LeGree who had the luxury of a Danny Fortson during
Keith's senior season. I know that LeGree could be argued but I need a
PG who can take the air out of the ball at the end of ballgames and sink
free throws when the other team has to foul.
So I will happily take a guy like Barker over past JUCO's like Horton
and Williams (am I missing anyone?).
The funny thing is, I think we agree with each other more than you
think. You kind of make my point as to why I have been happy with Barker
by stating the fact that he was a late signee due to Satterfield
leaving. The real question is who else could have come in and played for
Huggins that was available at the time we signed Barker?

I agree Brian, however I also believe that we have come to expect more
from
our players than Taron's best. If I recall he was a pretty late signee,
and
not highly regarded by any means. Kind of like Hollman and Johnson.
After
K-Satt left they were in a bind for a pg. Taron has done as much as he
is
capable of, I salute him for his effort in the weight-room.
Nonetheless, I
expect more from a senior point guard. I suppose my expectations are
just a
little higher then some.

haven'tTaron Barker has done someting that many of us, at least myself,
penetratingdone. That is perform up to his potential. True, he is not a
pg,
stats, &but he has played strong defense, has had extremely low turnover
hit
appreciateopen shots, a few in the clutch. Was a nice sub last yr,too. I
&
gameswish him the best. BillMy point exactly. If you remember how he played in his first two
last year, who would have ever imagined that you would get the type ofgreats
production out of him this year. He won't go down as one of the
all-time, but I believe he is playing as well as he possibly can.
