RE: Harrick excuses, excuses, excuses...

My guess is since the foundation helps "needy students" and not solely
student-athletes, it would be kosher.

Yeah, Cole doesn't sound like a solid citizen, but I believe him on this
stuff. If he was making the same claims against a coach with a sterling
rep, I'd have to weigh it carefully. But Jimbo's been sullied many, many
times before.

Dale Brown clashed with the NCAA, too, but I think his were more
philosophical differences with the governing body -- not trying to beat
it, and get away with something, like Harrick.

I'm not a big Dale Brown fan either, but here's
a line from this article I do not understand...

Brown, who retired from coaching at LSU in
1997, said that over the years he has
personally given Cole approximately $10,000
but none since before the summer of 2001.

How can a former NCAA coach give
money like this to kids and yet they are able
to keep their eligibility?? Or is this part
of the reason Cole ran into trouble with the
NCAA? I don't know the whole story with this
kid other than I understand bad news has followed
him around.

Harrick Sr. really strugling while on the hook. Among his excuses:
legitimate Dale Brown Foundation gave him the money to give to Cole.
Dale
Brown: No, we didn't.

Another Harrick gem: "They (DB foundation) sent us the money," Harrick
told
the Journal-Constitution, "and (Cole) wanted it." Oh, well, THAT gets
you
off the hook Jimbo! The kid WANTED the money! So it's the kid's fault
you
have no integrity. Why didn't you say so earlier!?!?!
