I've NEVER heard a good explanation as to why a
football conference needs to expand in order to
improve. The Big East, Big Ten, ACC and Pac 10 are
all in the BCS, despite having less than 12 football
teams.
I'm all for a solid football progam and conference,
but C-USA has gone about it all wrong from day one.
The football quality of the conference has done
nothing but stagnate, while the basketball has become
diluted. There are so many teams that some never end
up playing each other. I think UC's football team
would be just as good right now if the conference had
eight, or six teams for that matter.
Besides, 1000+ mile road trips make no practical
sense. Could you tell us how road games to places
like Colorado Springs or Provo benefit the already
dubious state of this conference?

basketball programs because
of expanding for football. There might be some
truth, but as a UC fan, I
like where our football program is at now much
better than 10 years ago.
I think C-USA should look at raiding a couple of
Mountain West or WAC team
and create the first nationwise college conference.
If we could get a
couple of these teams -- Air Force, BYU, CSU, Utah,
Tulsa or SMU -- it could
lead to a great TV package and certainly bring more
exposure to our teams.
I have no idea how it would have to work, but given
the state of college
sports and how difficult it is to break up the hold
the six power
conferences have, it is atleast worth more than a
passing thought.

Subject: [UC Basketball] State of Kentucky may need
therapy soon
With UK and Louisville in a race to be #1 in the
polls, I can only imagine
how psycho the fans are getting down there (boy, am
I glad I don't live down
there anymore). Check out this article which is
quite humorous in a lot of
spots.

BTW...has anyone given any thought to the
possibility that Louisville could
very well be ranked #1 when they come to the Shoe
later this month?
