Very nice analysis! That along with Jon M's RPI post would
give even the biggest slacker at one of our local rags two
stories at least ;-) But alas guys like Paul "Peace" Daugherty
would rather dig up trash.

If I were a local writer, I would write about the refs ;-)
I might even spend a whole week on Hand Checking and The
principle of verticality...with interviews from refs to quiz
them on exactly what a hand check is if putting both hands
in an offensive player's chest on a drive (XU v. UD) was
not a foul, or why lowering your shoulder and knocking a
defender was not a charge...

Thought that this might be of interest to all. I keep hearing how
the Big 12 is "the" conference this year. Thanks to redsoxcoog
who posted this on the Houston rivals site.

Marquette picks up a solid win over Wake Forest yesterday. Wake
is in first place in the ACC. Cincy knocks off Big 12 leader
Oklahoma State.

It's amazing the lack of respect this league is getting. Heck,
everywhere you turn these days you hear how the Big 12 is the
best basketball conference this year. Well, lets look at a
head-to-head comparison

WINS over current top 25 (AP or Coach's poll) teams OOC

BIG 12

Texas over Georgia
Oklahoma over UConn

CUSA

Marquette over Wake Forest
Louisville over Kentucky
Memphis over Syracuse
Memphis over Illinois
Cincy over Oregon
Cincy over Oklahoma State

Wins over RPI top 50 OOC

BIG 12 -10 wins
CUSA -14 wins

Wins over RPI top 75 OOC

Big 12 -17 wins
CUSA -23 wins

True road wins vs. RPI top 75 OOC

Big 12 - ONE
CUSA - FOUR

AND, just to top it off, more CUSA squads have defeated a top 75
opponent in OOC play than have Big 12 squads (Louisville,
Memphis, Marquette, Tulane, Cincinnati, DePaul, St. Louis, East
Carolina, South Florida, and Charlotte) compared to (Oklahoma
State, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas Tech, Texas ATM, Missouri,
Kansas State, and Nebraska).
