"How does a taller defender help stop Moore?"

Height helps EVERYWHERE. As long as you still have the quickness, your
height helps in shot blocking, makes it tougher for who you defend to see,
rebounding, shooting over a defender, etc etc. And I wouldn't say Reece
Gaines has any deficiency in quickness.

Well I agree that Hicks should see more minutes but that has absolutely
nothing to do with Bobbitt.

You have conveniently glossed over my statement of:

"I really hope we see big minutes from Hicks, I think he is our best
option if this game is going to be at a full court pace."

Can you tell me why Kirkland is the answer and not Moore with regards to
helping our offense? How does a taller defender help stop Moore? His
strength is not shooting so I am not worried about shooting over a
taller player. His strength is penetrating and height doesn't help guard
against that.

I like both of these freshmen so I am not disagreeing with you, I just
am waiting for you to make a case for why you think like you do.

First of all, If you have Moore, Barker, and CBC, you effectively have 3
people who don't/can't score. I don't think its takes a genious, to
figure
out who to guard if 3 of the opposing players won't score. Granted, I
think
if left alone, Moore would make them pay by driving to the hole, but
Pitino
could just put his 6'5 point guard on him.

As far as who will get his 10-15 mins, you have 2 choices, in no
specific
order: 1.) Kirkland 2.) Give Hicks more minutes.

Barker and Moore don't have to be the ones scoring. Notice that I am
referring to tonight's game in particular. When you play a team that
pressures you the length of the floor then Moore and Barker are
EXACTLY
what you want in order to find the open guys down court for easy
baskets.

Can I ask who you think would should get the 10-15 minutes that most
likely would have gone to Bobbitt when Field sits? The only other
guards
I see are Kirkland, Lucas and Meeker..

Barker and Moore is NOT the answer. Those are 2 players, who do not
score.
We do not need ball handlers for crying out loud, we need people who
can
score the basketball.

Huge shock. Like Jason said, the timing makes it even more shocking.

- Huggins has hinted at playing a more guard oriented lineup
- Bobbitt is coming off a big game for him
- Louisville forces opponents to go deep to their bench by wearing
you
down
- national audience against a team where Bobbitt's skills would
excel

I can't imagine anyone had any idea this was coming. I have wondered
how
we would get enough minutes for him and Field next year but didn't
expect this to happen based on all of Tony's positive comments.

Well, who will pick up the slack? I think for the Louisville game it
could mean more Barker and Moore at the same time since Huggins
would
want ball handlers against the press. Kirkland might also get more
minutes because of this.

I really hope we see big minutes from Hicks, I think he is our best
option if this game is going to be at a full court pace.

Wow. Great timing Tony. Right before the biggest game of the year
and
with the team struggling. He puts up a huge 2nd half and probably
would've seen more PT versus L'ville, so he goes AWOL. THis is
really
surprising given how great his attitude has always seemed to be. He
was
always rooting his teammates on, and in every interview he gave he
was
very positive, and always mentioned how much he respected Huggs and
would walk through walls for him. Well a team that struggles to
score
just lost a scorer. This season is starting to really go downhill
fast.

The Post says that Bobbitt has left the team, and frankly I am
extremely
mad at him! Huggins always seems to take people back after little
mental
lapses, but I am not sure I want him back for this stunt. At least
when
Eric Hicks left it was during some "dead time" of the Christmas
break
that he was using to sort things out. And remember he is a true
freshman, not a JC player with only 2 years at a school like
Cincinnati
to prove himself and make something of his basketball career.

I was thinking maybe we had a 25% chance of pulling an upset of
Louisville tonight, and Bobbitt could have played a significant role
in
that. The wide open game that Louisville can get into would seem
ready
made for some Bobbitt 3's at some point in the game. He has
completely
shown his selfish character and lack of concern for the team at
their
most crucial point in the season.

I don't think we need this kind of selfish guy and "split
personality"
as his friends have described around. I had been hoping for some
leadership even out of him next year, yeah right.
