RE: Center solution

I know I've heard that there's some chance that Whaley could jump
straight to the NBA after this JUCO season, but I've never heard what
the odds are of this happening. I'm guessing it's got to be fairly
slim, or else we'd see Huggins actively recruiting another big center in
case Whaley would not come here next season.

I was just wondering this, because I got to thinking today what a
nightmare it would be next year if Whaley was to go pro, since we all
have pretty much assumed Whaley will be starting next to Maxiell next
year. I don't know if I want to endure another year of the CBC!

Looking at his stats so far I read 17.1 points and only 7.5 rebounds. I
would be more enthusiastic if it were 10 rebounds like you say since
this is
our biggest weakness.

Huggins' job is not to have him 'exceed' those numbers, Huggins' job is
to
get them to play as a team and win games.

I am rooting for him as much as anyone, I just choose not to get too
excited
about players until I they get on campus.

I have also heard about the "negatives" but UC is his best chance on
making
a career for himself at the next level. I would consider averaging 18
points and 10 boards not too bad at the Juco level. From everything
that
I've heard, that he could easily exceed those numbers. That is Huggs'
job.

I just can't help but focus on the negatives that read about him (lazy,
unmotivated, inconsistent, only gives effort in spurts). Say all you
want
about Huggins being a motivator but he is not a magician, the player has
to
want to be motivated (see B.J. Grove). Besides, from a stats standpoint,
Whaley hasn't exactly dominated on the Juco level.
