Andy - you are so right about Maxiell. Huggins has fallen in love with this
guy and he can do no wrong. If he can't rebound or defend or score, why did
he play 33 minutes. I can't believe he complained about his teammates for
not rebounding. He said he was double teamed so the other front-line
players should have rebounded better. What a joke. Maxiell was outhustled
and outmuscled on every rebound. He should blame only himself.
There was a replay on the Huggins show where Jackson gets the ball at
the left post, backs Max down under the basket, misses the shot and
gets the easy rebound for the stickback. That's hard to take.
However, in Max's defense he probably isn't suppose to be covering a guy
that much bigger than him and he obviously does not want to get in
foul trouble because then our one inside offensive threat is gone.
Huggins and the coaches are talking about going to a four guard
offense. Might not be a bad idea, especially if they can extend
out the defense.
It's becoming pretty obvious we are not going to be winning the 60 point
games. Maybe we can win the 80 point games.
Huggins also said on the post-game yesterday, we wanted to give this
bunch every opportunity to win a ring and do what other teams before
them have done, perhaps indicating as some have mentioned on this forum
that it is time to start thinking more longterm rather than immediate.
He was really high on UofL on the show today. Saying they have a pro
inside and a pro outside. Also, he said other coaches have said their
half court defense has really developed into a strong point of the team,
something not evident in the past.
Yesterday's post-game talk and today's TV show were both excellent.
