Thoughts on Marquette

Andy - you are so right about Maxiell. Huggins has fallen in love with this
guy and he can do no wrong. If he can't rebound or defend or score, why did
he play 33 minutes. I can't believe he complained about his teammates for
not rebounding. He said he was double teamed so the other front-line
players should have rebounded better. What a joke. Maxiell was outhustled
and outmuscled on every rebound. He should blame only himself.

Offensively, has Maxiell ever gone *around* his defender to score? In a
year and a half of college ball, I can't remember this *ever* happening.
Just fade away FLAT jump shots. And this is only half of a *move*, since he
turns to his left every time.

I truly like Barker's hustle and attitude. But we cannot beat top 25 teams
with him at the helm. He *does not* break down a defense. Against Depaul,
he made a play late in the game when he penetrated the lane and dished to
Field for an open three. I think I can count on one hand the number of
times he has done this.

One final thought - and I know we all love Huggins (no one is perfect). I
am tired as heck of hearing him say that this team doesn't know what it is
doing. Whose fault is that. When announcers watch a well executed game,
that always comment that it is a well coached team. Well, the converse of
that is that a team that can't execute and doesn't know the plays or the
proper positioning is a POORLY coached team. Either Bob recruited some
really stupid guys or he is not TEACHING them the game. After 18 games,
they should know what is going on.

Let's retire Johnson and Hollman and play the younger guys. These 2 will
never contribute this year or next (if Hollman wins the appeal) so let's not
waste valuable experience on them.
