RE: Ted Hillary

The guy's name was Paul Kaster (sp?). He looks like a younger Hillary, but I haven't seen him do one of our games since he commited the most blatant act of official cheating I ever saw. He might have well as just picked up a chair and hit Mel with it, ala WWF. I had the misfortune of seeing it live, and I still can't believe it. I also remember Chuck telling a story that he was on the same flight as Kaster after the game, and he asked him nicely why he called the foul. Apparently the guy's response was to tell Chuck that if he didn't leave him alone, he was going to have him arrested. What an ass.

Also, if I remember correctly, he's the guy that was involved with the Bearcat getting tossed out of the Shoe during a game in the same season because he thought the Bearcat was mocking him after he tripped on some T.V. camera wires and fell on his butt during a time out.

As for Hillary, I was never a big fan, either, but after one of the radio shows I went to last season, somebody asked Huggs who he liked, and Hillary was one of the guys he mentioned as a good official.

Isn't Hillary the guy who called the phantom foul on Mel Levitt at the end
of the Depaul game. The game was tied, Mel was going one-on-one and lost
the ball. The Depaul player stole it and attempted a half court shot as
time expired. Hillary called Mel for a foul and the Depaul player had three
foul shots to win the game.

I could be wrong, but I have always blamed Hillary for that call. If I'm
wrong, I owe him an apology.

Anybody know for sure?

Mark
