That's not true... Dayton also has Wright State, which is D-1 basketball
(although not real good). They also have the Dayton Bombers, a pro
hockey team. I believe they have an Arena team too. The UD season ticket
holders are the reason that they are louder. They are more into the game
generally than UCs, and it shows by how loud they get. I also think that
UD Arena is just better suited for getting loud due to the shape of the
building. It seems to trap all the noise down around the court, where at
the Shoe it seems to billow above the court more.

Having been to UD many many times for games I can tell you that their
fans
are MUCH louder than UC fans on average. While UC does do well for big
games, the UD fans are loud for basically every game. One major factor
is
that UD basketball is all that the city of Dayton has. They have no
other
D1 or pro sports so they root hard for the one team they have.

But, I also think they do a better job of getting the fans into the
games.
As Gregg stated earlier, during timeouts they play music and the entire
crowd is clapping and stomping along in unison. Isn't this something
that
can easily be incorporated into at UC.

One other factor to consider in evaluating the UD fans is that the
Bearcats
coming to town is one of the, if not the biggest game of the year.
When UD
plays in Cinn. it is not one of the biggest games for us. A fair
comparison
of fans would be to see how we compare during the cross-town shootout
or
when Marquette comes to town. UD has to feel like they never get any
attention with UC and Xavier 50 miles down the road and this is one
year
they thought they had a real chance to beat the Cincy (unfortunately
they
were right).

Let me jump in here on your above statement Andy. For anyone who has
never
attended a basketball game at the UD Arena, I can PROMISE you, you
have
never seen 'crowd participation' like they have there. For the ones
that
have been there, you know what I'm talking about.........it is
absolutely

unbelievable.

During timeouts the music gets to going and the ENTIRE crowd is
clapping
and

stomping along in unison........and I mean EVERYONE is doing it. It
was
really something to behold and something I won't soon forget. There
is no

way that there is better fans than UD's, there might be someones as
good.....but not better.

This is directed at Brian and Joe Feeley<---don't you have something
to do

with the video board?? I'd love to see us do our pregame intros the
way
they
do there at UD and show all the regular season titles and conference
championships and national titles......final fours etc. etc. going
'into'
the
highlights. It took a while for them to go through theirs, so I'm
sure
ours
would be a little longer...lol...but hey!!! ;-) Anyone else at the
game
agree with me about those crazy 'Flyer Faithful'???
