According to the box score, Maxiell only grabbed 2 rebounds tonight (if
that's correct). I was at the game, and I don't remember Maxiell grabbing a
whole lot of rebounds. We were still out-rebounded 34-31 even though we
looked much better on the boards tonight. I think Kareem has earned the
starting center spot for now. Kareem was aggressive on the both ends of the
court when he was in there. It was also interesting to note that Rod
Flowers was back to the 5th big man behind Maxiell, Johnson, Hollman, and
Land, after starting at the Dayton game. Shows ya where poor defense puts
you on Huggins' teams.
Max looked great offensively tonight, and Barker played another solid game
at the point. I'm feeling a lot better heading into the Shootout now.

UC did get votes. The polls at ESPN have some votes missing on them. If you
notice.. UC, UCLA, & Georgia all dropped out of the polls and none of them
recieved votes. I think UC got 76 points in the AP and 41 in the coaches.
It was good to see the Bearcats play tight man to man D tonight compared to
Dayton where they were playing off their man way too far. Max was a man on
the boards tonight and Johnson looked good. It's amazing how much easier it
is to rebound when you box out.
Good to see Barker driving and dishing also instead of just passing it
around the perimeter. Valpo's D had to collapse when he drove past his man
leaving Field and Bobbitt open on the perimeter for wide open looks.

While I suspected that UC would drop from the top 25, I was a bit surprised
to see that they didn't even get a single vote in either of the polls. Also
worth noting that Huggins is one of the voters in the coaches poll.
Not that this bothers me, it seems to be a pattern the last two years which
has yielded good results later in the season.
