I really wouldn't read too much into this "energy" statement. I am guessing
that it is simply an expression of frustration with the team so far. Huggs
certainly has his work cut out for him this year. Donald Little was
certainly not an offensive juggernaut but he certainly held his own on the
defensive end. The lack of a true center is why Max is struggling so far.
And the on again/off again effort by Stokes from the 1st half to the 2nd
half against Dayton simply cannot happen. Stokes needs to be the go to guy
when the team needs points...he cannot disappear.
I think the month of December will be the key to how this year's team does.
Because classes will be done due to winter break, Huggs will have the team
all to himself.

Mike, I'm curious about that comment.
I thought it was Huggs being Hugss of old, you know "We stink, we won't win,
we don't work hard, I don't know if I'll have the energy etc etc..."
However, I didn't hear him myself, so I was curious, someone on CUSA-TALK,
is convince that huggs is to tired physically, and doesn't know "If he'll
have the energy" to get this team going, and related it to the heart attack.
Obviously, you heard the show, and to anyone else that did... Was this just
Him being Huggs? Or do you think he really think he needs abreak.

At one point he said something like, "I just hope I have the energy to get
these guys doing what they need to do". Scary. Sounds like he thinks the
coaches (including himself) have not done a good job. I think we can all
agree that this team needs a whole bunch more coaching than the previous few
years. I think he's legitimately concerned that he doesn't have the stamina
to work as much as is needed with these guys.
But.... if there's one area where you CANNOT beat Huggins, it's hard work.
We'll see....

appropriate. Chuck thought Huggs would be pleased with the improved effort.
Huggs said Dayton is a good team with returning players and senior
leadership. Chuck suggested the 'Cats are young and will improve as the
season progresses. Bob responded with Stokes has been here 4 years, Maxiell
got a lot of minutes last year. The problem isn't the teams inexperence,
it's nobody listens. They don't work hard in practice. The coaches do a great
job of scouting, tell who can and will do what, who only goes certain
directions etc. They hit the floor, the other team does what the scouting
report said they would do and the team doesn't react. I don't mind loosing a
game as long as the effort is there. Maxiell's first half 2nd foul was dumb.
You don't swipe at the ball when you alrady have 1 foul in under 2 minutes.
Huggs: I accept responsibility for them not being ready. We've got the
Christmas break coming and then their mine. I can't trade them but I can cut
them. Short turnaround for the Valpo game. UC has handed out more NBA scout
passes for Valpo then they have for Xaiver on Saturday.
