Wow, no posts on the game today? Gregg, was that you and your Dad
making your way around the glass block wall after the game? Dad
had on a checked sweater? Sorry for not saying anything, but if
it was not you I would have looked very strange ;-) Not quite as
bad as playing golf with Jon Breiner and having him tell everyone
that I was his "internet" friend.
Intriguing game tonight:
- Why didn't Hicks or Moore get in the game until the second
half?
- Where in the hell is BJ? Brian can we find out how far he has
to go?
- BJ is needed to give them a big body down low.
- Holman, Johnson and Flowers are not D1 centers. Neither is
Eugene. Gene twisted his knee again. You could see the pain
on his face after he did it, and Huggs got Steve Whelmer to
stop the game to get him out.
- Hicks is a man, he works his butt off. If he is not 100%, wow!
- Moore can really fly, Kirkland can fly with the ball too, but
both of these guys were deer in the headlights.
- Bobbitt was pissed at Huggs at one point and Peters had to
try to calm him down. I like his fire. His nickname should
be tigger since he bounces all the time.
- I think that the NCAA did away with the hand check call along
with 3 seconds for #34 Sea-something. He camped out in there
the whole game. NKU grabbed pushed shoved and UC wore their
jerseys that would come out of their pants all on their own.
But, NKU had 1 foul for the first 8 minutes of the second
half. The wrong ref was calling fouls underneath while the
guy in position was not making the call. It was bad...
- Lenny could have scored 40, but he was holding back trying to
let the other guys get theirs.
- Rod Flowers sucked.
- Field looked OK at times, but he needs to slow down. Same
for Bobbitt and Kirkland.
- Max was a bit off tonight, but we know he can do it for real.
- Barker looks OK with the ball, but his offense is not good.
- Huggs used a ton of lineups tonight and there are many
possibilities for what he can do. They tried to press a lot
and the best guy to be the point is Kirkland. At 6'8" and
long arms he will cause real problems for opposing point
guards.
It will be interesting to see what they do against AIA. The team
is very raw, but there is a boatload of talent. The Sporting News
and their D+ depth rating for the Cats could not be further from
the truth. If they all progress this team will be VERY scary come
March, but will be ugly in November. The newcomers look like they
will really contribute this year.
End of year lineup:
1 - Barker / Moore / Lucas
2 - Bobbit / Williams / Kirkland / Meeker
3 - Stokes / Hicks / Kirkland
4 - Max / Land Flowers
5 - BJ / Johnson / Hollman
You may even see Max at the 5 and Hicks playing the 4. I am not sure
how Hicks gets in the starting lineup with Stokes in there also. I
hope that Moore gets enough time to be able to develop. I hope
Flowers was just nervous and he has actually made progress...
