I think another possible factor is that these agreements that are now
being made are the first scheduling agreements since the Sept 11th
tragedy.
We don't have to fly to Valpo.
It would be interesting to see if this is a factor. I know it was with
recruiting in the November 2001 and April 2002 signing periods. Parents
were more of an influence in keeping their kids closer to home.

I'm glad I read your response before I posted again, Brett. I think
your reasoning is dead on. TV sets up the home for home deals. Those
16 home games are sacred because they bring in most of the Basketball
teams income in any given year. The only thing that competes with that
is TV games. I would prefer more home and home TV arrangements, like we
did with Wake Forest, but most schools do not want to do it and will
only agree to a one-time neutral court arrangement.

I personally think it is neither of these. The biggest reason IMHO ismoney.
Money is why big schools won't play us because it means a 1 for 1 andmoney
is why Valpo is attractive (2 for 1 with a better than average team).teams
If all we cared about was schedule strength then we could easily find
like Duke, Kansas, etc.. willing to play us on their floor with no
game in return. But we wouldn't make much money doing that.
It isn't a coincidence that the only time we see two big time programs
playing each other anymore is when TV makes it happen (usually on a
semi-neutral court).
Again, I don't know any better than anyone else on this forum but that
is always my thinking when I see the schedule.
