If you lose confidence in what you're doing, it's hard to get it back. I've
played and watched enough sports to know that it happens all the time. In
basketball they call it "going cold", in golf it's the "yips" (that's all I
really care about), and I know that Chadd went from being one of the most
highly recruited players in the country to being a "pretty good" player
destined for high D-1 status, but not a super-recruit. I also have read
enough about him to know he had problems with the transition to Oak Hills,
and managed to work them out. I would loooovvvvvvve for him to be a great
player for U.C., but like I said I'm just making a prediction, and that's
all it is.
I'd be willing to put a lot of money that at least one of our four highly
regarded recruits this year will be a bust. I mean, it's not like it's
never happened before, for example players just on this team alone such as
B.J. (7-foot monster), Flowers (the greatest high school rebounder Huggins
has ever seen?), Donald Little (uh, where do I start?), and also in years
past such as Dontonio Wingfield (the highest ranked recruit ever for
Huggins), Charles Williams (what a fiasco), Eugene Land (probably the most
intense recruitment ever for Huggs, X is looking pretty good right now),
Jerome Harper (somebody chime in with that story), Marko Wright our savior
at PG (practiced one day?), Satterfield (Mr. clutch and I'm too good for the
college game), etc. etc.....
By the way, if Hicks comes dressed as a cheerleader, I'll recant and make
him my bust, he came pretty close anyway.

Well, as long as it's only a prediction, then it does make perfect senseto
me too. Therefore, I predict that Hicks will show up at the first gamethe
dressed as a cheerleader!! It makes perfect sense to me since it hasn't
ever happened before and "logically" it's bound to happen sooner or
later...just like Chadd having "had it and lost it"...and we all know that
"it's awfully hard to get it back again"!!! How do you know that all of
recruits we get are "not going to pan out"?? Here's more greatlogic..."I'm
not willing to bestow the bust label on any of the other three, so heso
becomes my logical choice"...You must've taken logic at Xavier...not that
there's anything wrong with that !!!(sigh)...

It makes sense to me because it is just a prediction. I will be the first
one to eat my words if he turns out to be a great point guard, and love
every minute of it. I'm just looking at circumstances and taking into
account situations like his that have occured in the past and making a
prediction. I know that not all the recruits we get are going to pan out,
and I am not willing to bestow the bust label on any of the other three,
he becomes my logical choice. Think how disappointed we'd be (and howmuch
more flack I'd get on this forum) if I said that Hicks would be the bust.hadn't
To me, Kirk will be the 4 year player from this class, and Bobbit has
already proven himself somewhat at the JC level. I'm not even going to
consider Johnson, because he wasn't as highly regarded in the first place,
so a bust by him (which is just as likely) would not be a surprise or
disappointment to me.

This part of the post makes no sense whatsoever. Just because Chadd was
rated very high right before his sophomore year, means that many of the
players in his class hadn't been seen in high level competition or
theirdeveloped yet. In Chadd's case, he played for a high school team thatmade
him the top dog and didn't necessarily show what he could do or how goodhe
may be. Very few of the "top" kids in the class in the early part of
college.recruitment end up being exactly in the same spot when they go to
