FW: FW: pre-season polls

Well, as long as it's only a prediction, then it does make perfect sense to
me too. Therefore, I predict that Hicks will show up at the first game
dressed as a cheerleader!! It makes perfect sense to me since it hasn't
ever happened before and "logically" it's bound to happen sooner or
later...just like Chadd having "had it and lost it"...and we all know that
"it's awfully hard to get it back again"!!! How do you know that all of the
recruits we get are "not going to pan out"?? Here's more great logic..."I'm
not willing to bestow the bust label on any of the other three, so he
becomes my logical choice"...You must've taken logic at Xavier...not that
there's anything wrong with that !!!(sigh)...

It makes sense to me because it is just a prediction. I will be the first
one to eat my words if he turns out to be a great point guard, and love
every minute of it. I'm just looking at circumstances and taking into
account situations like his that have occured in the past and making a
prediction. I know that not all the recruits we get are going to pan out,
and I am not willing to bestow the bust label on any of the other three, so
he becomes my logical choice. Think how disappointed we'd be (and how much
more flack I'd get on this forum) if I said that Hicks would be the bust.
To me, Kirk will be the 4 year player from this class, and Bobbit has
already proven himself somewhat at the JC level. I'm not even going to
consider Johnson, because he wasn't as highly regarded in the first place,
so a bust by him (which is just as likely) would not be a surprise or
disappointment to me.

This part of the post makes no sense whatsoever. Just because Chadd was
rated very high right before his sophomore year, means that many of the
players in his class hadn't been seen in high level competition or hadn't
developed yet. In Chadd's case, he played for a high school team that
made
him the top dog and didn't necessarily show what he could do or how good
he
may be. Very few of the "top" kids in the class in the early part of their
recruitment end up being exactly in the same spot when they go to college.

Chadd then took it upon himself to go to Oak Hills Academy to focus on his
academics and to insert discipline into his life. The transformation was
great with Chadd. He came onto the #1 High School team in America as the
back-up point guard to Justin Gray (Wake Forest recruit?) and proceeded to
work hard and earn the starting spot on the team. This was primarily due
to
his diligence on defense. He became the stopper for the team, much like
IMac was. He can do all of the things a great point should be able to do.
He may not be putting in 20-25 ppg but I'm not so sure that it is great
for
a team to be led in scoring by their point. Because if the other team can
shut down your point from scoring, they have effectively shut down the
controls of the offense.

"He's had it then lost it. It's awfully hard to get it back again"?!?!?!?
Where do you draw this knowledge from? From all of your experiences as a
top high school point guard?? Chadd has already done everything he can to
prepare himself to play in the Huggs system. Save the second guessing
till
you've had a chance to see him play for a season or two.

<Chadd has the most potential of the new recruits to bust. He's had it
then
lost it. It's awfully hard to get it back again. If he does, he was at
one
time considered the top player in his class. Let's hope the Huggs factor
plays in here again.>
