commissioner Mike Slive take the same job with the Southeastern
Conference. There would not have been a C-USA without Slive's political
ability to merge the old Great Midwest and Metro conferences, but

Obvious examples of this include adding East Carolina and TCU, which
watered down a league that already was struggling, and an unbalanced
alignment that has resulted in 94 percent of its NCAA Tournament
