Mike,
Thank you for the reply and update! It's really great to hear that after all these years the former players from UC & X still show their support for each other. That's just great to see!
In terms of the issue of "timing of the game" it makes sense to me to hold this event closer to the actual shootout date? Perhaps the day or weekend before and try get the support of Skyline & other sponsors to donate some cash for the cause? Just a thought!
Thanks again & good luck with the next event!
Lou

Since I helped organize it, I guess I should respond !
There were mixed emotions about the game.
From a player standpoint, it was a success. The guys had a blast. Theywere thrilled to see old friends they hadn't seen in a while and enjoyed
getting the 'family' back together. They encouraged Alex and Sherwin to
do it again.
The bad news is attendance was poor, but lessons were learned and the
next event will be even better. Problems we had are fixable and we are
encouraged about the next time. Some things discussed already are moving
the game to the winter, during bball season and using a HS gym instead
of a big place like Schmidt Fieldhouse to reduce ticket prices. Any
thoughts you guys have would be great (email me separately)
Players included: Anthony Buford, Keith LeGree, Keith Gregor, Curtis
Bostic, Levertis Robinson (all the way from Chicago), LaZelle, BJ Ward &
Meacham. AD Jackson and Tarrice Gibson were late cancellations because
of family concerns and Terry Nelson was coaching in Colorado.
The blue side included Darnell Williams, Byron Larkin, (big) Larry Sikes
and Gary Lumpkin. The guys played hard, but there were also plenty of
laffs.
LaZelle probably hit 75% of his trey's, although he told me he hadn't
played for almost a year. Meach had a sweet scoop-alley-oop to Curtis
Bostic that frightened children. And yes, Bostic still has an
Arnold-like build.
Unfortunately our Bearcats were crushed by about 40 points. Then I
discovered that the Xavier guys have been playing once a week for some
time. If you would have been able to come out, you could have sat next
to Leonard Stokes, Jelly Jones or David West.

Did anyone get to go to the "Classic Crosstown Shootout" this past
weekend?
I'd be interested to hear who won and any good stories! ;-)
Thanks,
Lou
