Are we absolutely sure that it hasn't or isn't hurting his recruiting. If
you're a big-time recruit and you have all kinds of media outlets
(newspaper, internet, radio, tv) reporting that Huggins is looking at an NBA
positions, then 5 other college coaches are backing up these reports, it's
hard to know who to believe. With this many people all telling you
something different, it may just be easier to pick a different school that
doesn't have a coaching controversy every year.
I just think if Huggs is gonna stay here at UC, then he needs to show his
committment by not constantly putting himself in situations like this. He
should dispel any rumors immediately by flat out stating "I am not leaving
UC, this was just a lunch to discuss I-Mac and Logan", otherwise we have no
other reason to not belive that there's a chance he may leave.

- Huggs has been dealing with these rumors >every< year and it certainly
hasn't hurt recruiting for the 2002 or 2003 classes. He knows how to
fend off these rumors. He stays in contact with his recruits regularly,
like all good coaches do.
- It was just lunch.
- I would imagine that topics of conversation included (as KW mentioned)
Logan, McElroy, plus Satterfield and Van Exel.
- I'm not worried.

I agree with you Brad on this one, when will it stop? UC is line to
get some big time recruits this year and I guarantee other coaches
around the nation will be on the phone mentioning this article to
Tack, Shannon and other recruits UC is going after.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting sick of this. Huggs has an
"informal" lunch with Nuggets GM Kiki Vandeweghe and then wants to
play it off as it not meaning anything. It has already been reported
that the Kiki
is intrigued by Huggs and that the Nuggets may pursue him for thier
coaching position. So WHY would Bob agree to have lunch with him ifhe
has
no intent of at least not listening to a potential offer.
All Huggs is doing is creating more controversy and potentially
hurting his recruiting. With so many top level recruits seriously
considering UC, why
would you (as a head coach) take a chance at giving these recruits a
reason
to not pick UC.
It seems like Bob just likes to make controversy. Unless he is
seriously considering taking the Denver job, I can't see any reason
why he would do
this.
I'm not trying to stir up anything. I'm just getting frustrated with
this year in and year out.
