A Finals series between the Kings and Nets would have done wonders for the
NBA, IMO. Not to mention the chances that the Nets might win. It's hard
to disagree with your other post re the Lakers winning in 5; they are
*not*
a good matchup for the Nets.

Why not? I think the Nets zone could cause problems for LA. I think the
Kings are better than the Lakers, the difference was not having a completely
healthy Peja. Matching up with Shaq will be a huge problem, but who doesn't
have that problem!? :)

Anyway, I pick the Lakers, but think the Nets will not be a walkover.

The Nets handled Boston's one-two punch because Kenyon was generally
capable of guarding Walker straight-up, allowing them to double-team
Pierce, who doesn't pass nearly as well as he slashes. Playing Kobe the
way they played Pierce would be great, but then what do you do with Shaq?
Yes, the Nets' zone was fairly successful again the Celtics, but that was
in large part due to Boston's poor shooting. Fisher, Fox, Horry, etc. are
normally more reliable shooters.

Divac is (IMO) much more capable of semi-neutralizing Shaq than any
combination of post players on the Nets, in large part because he's a
scoring threat. The Nets' inside trio of MacCulloch, Williams and Collins
remind me of UC's recent mediocrity in the post. They're serviceable, but
they're not likely to help win any championships. I think, had the Kings
beaten the Lakers, the Nets' biggest challenge would have been controlling
Divac, not Webber. Shaq is a whole 'nuther deal.

I'll still root for Kidd (the *real* MVP), Kenyon, Keith and KK. Stranger
things have happened, although not often in a best-of-7 series.
