I guess Cal will set him up with a SUV and a few greenbacks.....lol. Just
joshing ;-) that kid is a pretty good player. I am glad though if he go to
Memphis, because IMO....he is a gunslinger and is already looking towards
the next level......and that's good. Kids like that......run into a wall
when they meet Huggybear. :-)

...........Former Kentucky guard Rashaad Carruth intends to
transfer to Memphis, the player's AAU coach said
last night. Carruth is so intent on playing for
Memphis he will not be deterred by the Tigers'
lack of an available scholarship. "He is willing
to pay his own way,'' said Linzy Davis, Carruth'
s coach in AAU. If he and his family cannot afford
to pay the way, Carruth will consider attending
a junior college for a season before going to
Memphis in 2003, a time when a scholarship could
be available. "He is determined," Davis said.
"He has a long-term goal." That goal is playing
in the NBA. Carruth noticed that DaJuan Wagner
entered this year's NBA Draft after his freshman
season at Memphis and a close friend, AAU teammate
Anthony Rice, became a starter at Memphis as a
freshman last season. "He feels he can have the
same results they had," Davis said. Since leaving
UK, Carruth has considered such schools as Louisville,
Georgia Tech and Florida State. "But he certainly
has his mind set on Memphis," Davis said of Carruth.
Davis noted that Memphis was Carruth's first choice
coming out of Oak Hill Academy. Two factors caused
Carruth to sign with Kentucky instead, Davis said.
Wagner figured to get most of the playing time at
Memphis as a freshman. And Carruth saw himself
filling UK's need for better perimeter shooting.
The player's inability to handle the lack of
immediate success soured Carruth's freshman season
at Kentucky, Davis said. Now Carruth intends to
restart his college career by enrolling in summer
school at Memphis, Davis said.
