RE: Little Story Has Big 'Legs'

Again given Donalds history, I don't need to see concrete
facts/statements/quotes-whatever before I make a judgement. He allowed
himself to get into a position to not only hurt himself but the team, the
coaches and the administration that gave him a first, second and third
chance. He needs to go and based on what I've read on a previous post
Huggins agree's and has dismissed him from the team.

My beef isn't with the altercation, it's with the conjecture and misspeak
that always seems to come out of situations like these. I want to see some
concrete facts/statements/quotes-whatever before I make a judgement about
this whole situation. So far, I have seen the typical reporting in the
media associated with a situation that they probably don't have much real
information. I think it's as much a disservice to report these things to
people like you and me as it is to those involved in this. Now, before you
breath fire on me, no where in any of the above or previous statements have
I said that Don is innocent or everything's a lie. I just want to hear it
from the horse's mouth.
Many of you seem to be assuming that what you are hearing is the truth where
I'm saying it's probably somewhere less than the middle and quite possibly a
total fabrication, given the *reported* history this guy has for lying and
the motivation he *may* have for pinning this on his ex-best buddy and
roomate.

I keep going back to the history of one Donald Little. Again based on his
past history do you feel, based on your scenario below, that this is how
Donald should of handled that situation? If the guy did steal $2500 from
Donald, why did'nt Donald pick up his cell phone and call the police?

I don't care what scenario occurred, all I'm saying is given the number of
times that Donald has been in trouble (alleged or proven)you'd think he
would do ANYTHING in his power not to get involved with situations like
this. IMHO the door can not close fast enough on Donald (and oh by the
way
I hope it does hit his @#$ on the way out. Maybe a blow to his head would
set him in the right direction)

Sounds to me like this guy steals $2500 from his roomate, goes out and
blows
it, denies ever having seen any of it, Don confronts him and they get into
a
fight, so he makes up some wild-ass story to the police about torture etc.
to try and get out of it. Has any of the people who supposedly were at
the
scene when this happened actually made a statement, and if not, where is
all
this information coming from? So far, I haven't seen or heard any direct
quotes from people who actually saw all this take place. I think this
gives
you some kind of idea of the type of things you read and see in the media
every day. And, by the way, has Hugg's sold his house yet, I mean he's
definitely going to W.V., right?

The basketball program needs to permanently dismiss Little IMMEDIATELY.
That
said, maybe they should perhaps look into getting him some help. Not to
play
hoops, that's over, at least in this country, but to get on with his
life
after parole. But would it help? This man (he is afterall 23 years old)
seems the type to get into more trouble the more people try to help him.
He
either has some sort of substance problem, is antisocial, or just goes
off
the chart on the incredibly stupid scale. Maybe all of the above. Either
way, he seems a lost cause. Bearcat Basketball is not, afterall, a
twelve
step rehab or work release program, depite rumors to the contrary.

It's becoming apparent that because of the bizarre nature of this whole
incident, it'll make the rounds of every sports media outlet and then
some.
A simple rape or armed robbery would have made a splash and been over
and
done with, but this is like the horse punching, squared; we'll hear
about
it
for years and years to come. Except it's a lot more serious than Mr.
Long's
pugilistic equinal pulchritudes.

I just hope Donald's wayward $2500 was from collecting pop bottles,
giving
blood, or even a part time job selling pharmaceuticals door-to-door.
Just
don't let it get back to the program or a philanthropic booster. That's
all
we need.

And so it begins.... Kornheiser did his usual hatchet job on us at noon.
He
wondered aloud, if WVA wasn't now breathing a sigh of relief. He read
the
entire page one of the Enquirer article today, pausing to twist the
knife
with occasional commentary. He added afterwords, "Nice program they've
got
there."

The likely Rome smack downs just popped into my head:

"So he whacked the guy with a steel bar and roughed him up a bit. What's
the
big deal?" Tonya Harding

"Donald just needs help. He deserves another chance." Darryl Strawberry

"Don't give up on the kid. He has a lot of potential." Saddam Hussein

And so on.... Not to mention the timely "I am not a thug." Nixonesque
quote
from KMart sharing the headlines.

Mikey. Wondering how we could be back here again. And how this isn't
fair
to
Lo, IMac, JD, Leonard, and all the rest who proudly passed through the
hallowed halls w/o stinking them up.
